BANNON
Steve Bannon said that he sees himself as the "Thomas Cromwell in the courts of the Tudors". Cromwell "pulled the strings" of Henry III. That is exactly what Bannon is doing to Trump. Much of what is coming from Trump is really from Bannon.
Bannon got himself onto the National Security Council. To make room for him, Trump demoted the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff and the National Intelligence Director. He does not belong there and most members of Congress agree. But there he is.
Bannon loved the BREXIT decision and supports all the right wing candidates in Europe. He was against all the multilateral trade agreements and would love to ban all immigration into this Country.
Bannon has said many very disturbing things, not the least of which are: "Darkness is good. Dick Cheney, Darth Vader and Satan. That's power!" He wants the "deconstruction of the administrative state." Interestingly, Trump just signed an executive order to devolve the federal government to state and local government and the private sector. That and the fact that federal regulatory controls of all kinds are being removed moves us closer to Bannon's dream of destroying this Country.
There is a Russian military strategist, Valery Gerasimov, whose blueprint is very much in line with Bannon's. In an essay he said, "...perfectly thriving state can, in a matter of months, an even days, be transformed into an arena of fierce armed conflict, become a victim of foreign intervention, and sink into a web of chaos, humanitarian catastrophe, and civil war." Isn't his where we are headed if we do not get the intelligence community and Congress to do something about Trump and Bannon?
Be afraid. Be outraged. Write your Congressman and Senators. Get active locally. Do something!

TRUMP BS
A few things about which to ruminate.
Trump promised to give all the profit from the hotel in DC and the resort in Mar-A-Lago to the Treasury Department. There is no evidence of that as of now.
Trump promised to give his entire salary to the Treasury Department. Now he is saying that he will donate this monthly salary at the end of the year. That was said only after the media started asking questions about it. BTW, every trip to the "Winter White House" is costing us about $3,000,000. Add that to what it is costing us to house and protect Melania and Barron in NYC's Trump Tower and you could fund the any number of federal programs that are being slashed.
As of this writing, Trump has spent 30% of his time out of the White House at Mar-A-Lago. He has played golf at least nine times. Remember what he said about President Obama?
Trump is now saying that in his tweets about the wire tapping, he meant any kind of surveillance. So if he has a microwave oven in his Trump tower break room, I guess that counts. He points out that he put the wire tapping in quotes. What he does not point out is that of the string of four that he fired off last Saturday morning, only two had quotes!!
Trump is still complaining that the Democrats are holding up his Cabinet appointments. He still has over 2,000 Cabinet positions unfilled and they require no Senate approval at all.
Every time the jobs report and unemployment numbers were released over the last year and a half, Trump would rant about them being fake numbers and bigly lies. Now he is taking credit for the January numbers, which, of course, he has no right to. He actually said that the old numbers were false, but these are not. They are calculated the same way by the same people!!
Enough to think about for now. Anyhow, it's giving me the blues.

KUSHNER WINDFALL
A prominent Chinese company with direct ties to the Chinese government is making a deal with Kushner's family company. It is "unusually" favorable to Kushner and family. The transaction includes a $4 billion investment by Anbang, the Chinese company with $400 million going to Kushner's company. In addition, an existing loan owed by the Kushners is being reduced to a fifth of what they owe. This amounts to a "gift" of over $200 million.

NEW GRANDDAUGHTER
I promise that I will not do this very often, but I have some personal news to share. Our son Steven and his beautiful wife Christine are now the parents of a new baby girl. Her name is Margot and she is perfect!
Christine was unable to carry to term so she needed a surrogate. That surrogate was our daughter Beth. Beth is a Doctor and has two boys, both of whom she delivered Caesarean. So she knew what was in store. Yet she volunteered because she loves her brother. They are all amazing people.

I just sent this off to our two NY Senators:
I am retired but was an insurance executive in the P&C product line business for 40 years. I sat on many Insurance Department panels.
I have seen many of the major insurers pulling out of the ACA exchanges in many states. Humana just announced it will pull out completely.
If we wrote auto insurance in a state, like NY for example, that had an assigned risk program, we had to participate. The only way out was to turn in our license. If we turned in our license to write auto, then we had to turn in our licenses for every product we sold.
Is there some way for the Federal Government to force these insurers to participate in the ACA exchanges? Very simply, if they do not, then they can't write any kind of insurance business in that state.
Also, one of the obvious reasons that the ACA is foundering is the fact that the risk pool does not include enough young, healthy folks. Why isn't more being done to force them to be insured. Auto insurance is mandatory, so why isn't health insurance?

That is what Betsy DeVos, member of the AMWAY family of billionaires, and our new Secretary of Education, had to say a few days ago after visiting a DC middle school. This is from someone who never taught anything to anyone-ever! "They're waiting to be told what they have to do...". Really? Go on twitter and read the teachers' and administrators' responses.
