That is what Betsy DeVos, member of the AMWAY family of billionaires, and our new Secretary of Education,  had to say a few days ago after visiting a DC middle school.  This is from someone who never taught anything to anyone-ever!  "They're waiting to be told what they have to do...".  Really?  Go on twitter and read the teachers' and administrators' responses.

So hear I am trying to absorb what just happened today on the Senate floor.  Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma Attorney General and fossil fuel advocate, was confirmed as EPA Secretary.  This even though the thousands of emails between him and the fossil fuel industry leaders, including the Koch brothers, will not be available until next Tuesday.

Pruitt is a man who accepted well over $300,000 in contributions from the fossil fuel industry and actually sued the EPA more than 13 times. He clearly is on the wrong side of the war on climate change and has no interest in any environmental protections.  Almost 800 former EPA staffers signed a letter opposing him.  But none of this matters to a Republican Senate majority.  BTW, what is happening to Manchin.  He has been voting with the Republicans on almost everything.

To add insult to injury, the so called president signed an executive order rolling back President Obama's executive order keeping the coal industry from dumping toxic waste into our waterways. Unfortunately, I think we will see much more of this.  I am so sad for our kids and grand kids.

DONALD TRUMP

A few current thoughts on this Presidential campaign.

Trump, the Detective, has solved the NC fire bombing incident.  Hillary did it.  This is the same guy, hours after the Egypt Air  crashed into the Mediterranean, said the it was terrorism.  He even said to us, "believe me it's true".  To this day, all the World's experts have not determined the cause.  He is the modern day Inspector Clouseau.

There are some clues that he really does not want to become President, but will establish a TV "news" show to rival FOX.  He has Roger Ailes and the Breitbart character, Banon on his team.  I think Melania would be thrilled if he lost.  Watch what happens!

On a related subject.  Just got back from travels to Vietnam and Cambodia.  Fascinating countries and wonderful people.  Will post some photos soon.  Met folks from Australia, the UK and Canada.  They all asked what in the Hell is going on in America.  They can't believe that the Donald is even running let alone in the running.  It is embarrassing.

Long time, no write.  Does anyone care?  I think not. 

Just did a Porsche Rally on the North Fork with my wife.  She navigated, which means she tells me what to do and when to do it.  I had a marriage counselor and a divorce attorney on call just in case. She never did this before- the Rally that is.  Of course the telling me what to do and when to do it has always been the case.

We came in fourth overall out of twenty-three teams and second in the "Novice" division.  Most importantly, we are still on speaking terms.

Went to Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway earlier this summer.  If you go to Hamburg, visit the model train museum.  Amazing.

MY NEW TOY

I have wanted a Porsche since I was a kid. In 1998 they eliminated the classic air cooled engine and went to water cooled. I was not happy. It was almost as traumatic as when the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Well, I vowed that someday I would have one of the "originals". Now I do. It took me years to find the one that measured up, and one that I could also afford; well, sort of afford.

I found my 1998 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet in Southern California. I had a fantastic mechanic, Marco of TLG Porsche Service in North Hollywood, check it out. Then I used Horseless Carriage Car Transport to get it here. They are by far the best in the business. Now it's in my garage!!

The air cooled Carrera goes by a few names. Technically its model is 993, but it is usually referred to as a 911 or C2. Whatever you call it, it is one Helluva machine.

UPDATE

I am in the process of designing a web site for my wife, who is a Psychotherapist specializing in kids with social and learning issues such as Asperger's and Autism. I just happened to find this long forgotten blog that I set up back in '07, so I thought I would start doing something semi-useful with it.

Now I just have to come up with something semi-useful. Stay tuned.
